From mortal enemies to unexpected allies, two teenagers try to protect everything that matters most. Ella Harper has met every challenge that life has thrown her way. She’s tough, resilient, and willing to do whatever it takes to defend the people she loves, but the challenge of a long-lost father and a boyfriend whose life is on the line might be too much for even Ella to overcome. Reed Royal has a quick temper and even faster fists. But his tendency to meet every obstacle with violence has finally caught up with him. If he wants to save himself and the girl he loves, he’ll need to rise above his tortured past and tarnished reputation. No one believes Ella can survive the Royals. Everyone is sure Reed will destroy them all. They may be right. With everything and everyone conspiring to keep them apart, Ella and Reed must find a way to beat the law, save their families, and unravel all the secrets in their Twisted Palace.

Alright, so this review has a few spoilers because I can’t really review it without talking about some of the main things that happened!

So Broken Prince ended with Reed getting arrested and then Ella’s Dad randomly showing up 9 months after everyone thought he had died on vacation. I feel like there was a lot going on in this book, from Reed’s trial to the way all the students at school started treating him. Ella ends up moving in with her Dad, against her own wishes. I was never a fan of her Dad and was not happy when he forced her to move out of the Royal’s house. Ella and Reed work out everything after what happened with Brooke, but Ella still finds herself occasionally doubting Reed with everything going on. I did get a bit irritated that Reed just can’t seem to control his temper and just really likes to punch everyone, even when he’s about to go to trial for Brooke’s murder.

There were also a lot of fun parts in this book too, like Reed and Ella finally having sex. I have mentioned in my reviews for the 2 previous books that I didn’t think they should be marked as YA because they contain sex, however Reed and Ella don’t actually have sex until this book. There is a lot of discussion about sex in all the books and details about Ella and Reed fooling around and doing other things. Anyway, once again I was fairly impressed with the plot twist in this book in regards to Brooke’s murder because I just couldn’t quite decide who did it, although in the end my suspicions were correct. I liked the way everything turned out with all of the characters in this book, but I did feel like the ending was a bit open ended. The author sets it up to continue on the next book and tell Easton’s story, which I am so excited about because I adore him, he is hilarious. I do also love Reed and Ella and would be really happy to read a book in the future about them or at least get some insight into their future lives in Easton’s book Fallen Heir, but we shall see.

Overall, I really enjoyed this series and am so happy I read it. I love all of the characters in these books and their complex relationships. I am currently reading Tarnished Crown (The Royals #3.5) which is Gideon’s story and can be read on the author’s Wattpad page. And I have of course pre-ordered Fallen Heir (The Royals #4) that is coming out next month and can’t wait to hear Easton’s story!
