Based on years of ministry and experience, international prayer leader and bestselling author Dutch Sheets presents a real-world, hands-on foundation for prayer. With wisdom and practical insight, he helps you develop the core of an effective prayer life: a stronger, lasting relationship with God as Father and friend. He even includes questions at the end of each chapter to help you immediately implement what you’re learning.

This is a fairly short book and is broken down into 13 chapters. Each chapters focuses on a specific topic in relation to prayer and includes a great deal of information including the author’s personal experiences, scripture and questions at the end of each chapter. The author gives readers advice on how to make prayer a vital part of your life, how to pray both alone and in groups and how to be persistent in prayer until you see God’s answers. These are all important topics that I think everyone, even those who have an established prayer life, can benefit from reading about. The beginning of the book was great and the author talks a lot about our understanding and practicing of prayer. However, by the middle of the book, the author starts talking about some things that I just wasn’t the biggest fan of and I found myself losing interest in the book and his writing. I think that people will either really enjoy this book or they won’t really like it at all, depending on their personal opinion of the writing and the experiences the author shares.

Thank you to the publisher, Bethany House, for sending me a review copy of this book.
