March Wrap Up

IMG_4280

I read some great books this month and got hooked on a new series, The Mortal Instruments. I am not sure why I have never read this series before, or anything by Cassandra Clare, because I just finished City of Bones and I loved it. If you haven’t read it, I certainly recommend it. So here is a brief run down of what I read during March and what is on my TBR list for April (although it always seems to change!)

Total Books: 10

Salt to The Sea by Ruta Sepetys

Genres Historical Fiction, War, Young Adult

Buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/1Sniy5b

Salt to the Sea was excellent, as is all of Ruta Sepetys writing. 4out of 5 stars.

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes

Genres Young Adult, Mystery, Crime

Buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/1SnjaaY

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly was just as good as all the reviews said it was. Highly recommended. 4 out of 5 stars.

The Bone Woman: A Forensic Anthropologist’s Search for Truth in the Mass Graves of Rwanda, Bosnia, Croatia & Kosovo by Clea Koff

Genres Anthropology, Non Fiction, Memoir, Science

Buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/1Y1e1cX

The Bone Woman was fascinating and I think that it would be enjoyed by readers who don’t hold a degree in Anthropology, as I do. It was very interesting and provides a lot of information on the conflict zones where Koff worked as well. 4 out of 5 stars.

No One Knows by J.T. Ellison

Genres Thriller, Mystery, Fiction

Buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/1Y1e6xa

I was provided with an ARC copy of No One Knows in return for an honest review. This was the first book I have read by the author and I did enjoy it. It is available now and if you are a fan of psychological thrillers like Gone Girl, I believe you will enjoy this book as well. 3 out of 5 stars.

Royal (Rixton Falls #1) by Winter Renshaw

Genres Romance, New Adult, Contemporary Romance

Buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/1Y1ehss

Royal is a stand alone contemporary romance. It is a typical new adult genre book. It was entertaining and the story line did have some twists and turns, just not really my style. 2 out of 5 stars.

Red Queen (Red Queen #1) by Victoria Aveyard

Genres Dystopian, Fantasy, Young Adult

Buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/1Y1etI7

I really liked Red Queen, it reminded me of a mix of Divergent and the Hunger Games. If you are a fan of either of those series, I recommend this one as well. 4 out of 5 stars.

Elastic Hearts (Hearts #3) by Claire Contreras

Genres New Adult, Contemporary Romance

Buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/1Y1ezQ6

This was a book I had been waiting for, forever. Although all the books in the Hearts series as stand alone novels, they have some of the same characters. The first two books are two of my favorites. However, I was quite disappointed with this book compared to the first 2, but it has gotten an average of 4 stars on Goodreads so maybe it’s just me. Still an entertaining read, just was a bit over hyped and under whelming for me. 3 out of 5 stars.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Genres Contemporary Romance, Romance

Buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/1Y1eImv

I absolutely LOVED this book, I can’t say it enough. It’s most certainly one of my favorites now. It’s only the second book by the author that I have read, but I have been very impressed so far. This was one of those books I got done reading and wanted to read the whole thing again immediately, it was that good. Read this book! 5 out of 5 stars.

Glass Sword (Red Queen #2) by Victoria Aveyard

Genres Dystopian, Fantasy, Young Adult

Buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/1Y1eOKJ

I really liked the first book in this series, Red Queen, however this book was a bit slower. The beginning and end were fast moving and action packed, but the middle was just a big slow. And there were a few things that annoyed me, like the main character talking about herself constantly. The story line was good but the book was just longer then it needed to be. 3 out of 5 stars.

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare

Genres Fantasy, Supernatural, Young Adult

Buy on Amazon http://amzn.to/1Y1eXOm

City of Bones was amazing and I can not believe that I didn’t read this series earlier. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series, just started City of Ashes, and I have already purchased the rest of the series. If you haven’t read this book, buy it, read it and then read the rest of the series, as I am assuming the next 5 books will be just as good. 5 out of 5 stars.
